About Reaction Time Test
Reaction Time Test is a free, independent browser tool for measuring how quickly you respond to a signal. It was built for anyone curious about their reflexes: gamers checking their input speed, students exploring cognitive science, drivers wanting a rough benchmark, or anyone who just wants to see the number.
What it measures
The tool offers four modes: a simple visual click test, a spacebar test, an audio test, and a choice (decision) reaction time test. Each mode uses the browser's high resolution timer to record the gap between a signal appearing and your response, in milliseconds. A ruler drop calculator is also included for testing reaction time without a screen at all.
Why it exists
Most reaction time tests online report a single number from a single click, which is noisy and easy to game. This tool runs a full session of rounds, reports your median rather than your best score, and gives you a percentile estimate against commonly cited population benchmarks, so the result means something.
A quick note on accuracy
Reaction time measured through a browser always includes a small amount of device and display latency on top of your true neural response. This affects every online test equally, so treat any single score as a useful estimate rather than a clinical measurement. Full methodology details are on the main test page.
